Plant hire guide
How Construction Equipment Is Transported
Understand lowbed transport, offloading space, route planning, permits, access timing and safe delivery for construction equipment.
Transport is part of machine selection
Heavy equipment is commonly delivered on a lowbed or suitable plant transporter. Machine dimensions, mass, route restrictions and loading method determine the transporter and whether additional arrangements are required.
Prepare for safe offloading
Reserve a firm, level area with room for the transporter and ramps. Check overhead lines, traffic, gate access and turning space. Confirm delivery timing, site contact and whether traffic control or estate permission is needed before dispatch.
Quote preparation checklist
- Confirm the machine or required site outcome
- Share the exact location and measured access constraints
- Explain the material being moved, excavated or delivered
- Provide dates, working hours, site photographs and drawings
